Abrasion testing is an important part of the printing process. It's essential to make sure that printed materials will stand up to normal wear and tear, so it's important to make sure that ink abrasion doesn't make them look worse over time. To make it easy for paper and packaging manufacturers to conduct ink abrasion test on the materials, we at Presto has designed a high-quality ink abrasion testerThis is one of the high-quality lab testing equipment that is used to test the abrasion resistance properties of the printed materials and ensure that the material will remain at its top condition even when exposed to extreme conditions.

In this article, we'll explain why printed materials are tested for ink abrasion and how the Presto ink abrasion testing instrument is useful in testing the ink abrasion property of labels or other printed materials. So, let us get started!

What is ink abrasion and why it should be tested?

When testing the durability of printed materials, one of the most important factors to consider is ink abrasion. This occurs when the printed ink is worn away by friction and can happen during normal use or handling of the product. Ink abrasion can also be caused by exposure to external environmental conditions and cause the fadedness of printed materials.

Ink abrasion testing is important because it allows manufacturers to ensure that their products will withstand normal use and wear over time. It also helps them to identify potential problems with specific inks or printing methods that could lead to premature degradation of the printed materials.

Thus, with the use of quality lab testing instruments, one can easily test the ink levels and ensure that quality products will be delivered to the customers. Presto is a leading ink abrasion tester manufacturer in India and delivers this high-quality lab testing equipment with precision and quality.

Now, let us discuss brief information about the Presto ink abrasion resistance tester.

How does the Presto ink abrasion tester help to test ink abrasion of printed materials?

Printed materials are tested for ink abrasion because it can affect the readability of a printed piece. Whether you’re producing business cards, brochures, or even magazines, if the ink isn’t properly bonded to the substrate, your customer may be disappointed with the quality of your product. Testing for ink abrasion is essential in order to ensure that all published materials maintain high standards and satisfy customers from start to finish. Thus, we at Presto Stantest has designed high-quality lab testing instrument to test the ink abrasion properties of the materials and ensure that quality product will be delivered to the customers.

This quality testing equipment has been designed in accordance with industry standards that include ASTM F 2497-05. It has accurately been designed to determine the quality of printed materials and ensure that the material will be tested against scuffing, bearing, and smudging.

Working of ink abrasion resistance tester

This high-quality lab testing instrument will accurately evaluate the print quality of the material by rubbing two printed materials against each other. To conduct the ink abrasion-resistant test on the materials, one can easily prepare the test specimen. Once the sample will be prepared then you can follow the below-mentioned steps:

  • Take both the sample that you have prepared using templates.

  • Now take out the pin of the upper clamp to separate the upper clamp from the lower one in order to create a specific amount of gap between both clamps.

  • Now paste the small-size sample on the upper clamp and the bigger-size sample on the lower plate. Press both samples firmly using your hand to avoid wrinkles from the samples.

  • Turn the machine ON and after placing samples firmly, place the clamping pin of the upper plate back in its position and tighten it firmly to rest the upper plate on the lower plate.

  • Set the number of cycles from the Preset Cycle Timer i.e. between 0 – 9999 counts (As per test requirement typically 100 cycles).

  • Push the start button to Start the test. Users can also click on the reset button during the test to reset the test procedure and then again start button

In this way, you can easily test the ink abrasion resistance properties of the materials and ensure that quality material will be delivered.
