Testing the tensile properties of metals is essential in order to ensure their strength, durability, and safety. Testing helps manufacturers to understand how metals behave under different levels of stress and strain, allowing us to make informed decisions about which materials are best suited for particular applications. Thus, to make it easy for manufacturers to conduct tensile strength test on the materials, we at Testronix has designed a high-quality tensile strength tester. This is one of the quality lab testing equipment that has been designed in accordance with industrial standards that includes ASTM D412, ASTM D429-73, ASTM D624, ASTM D638-01, ASTM D76, IS 13360-5-7, IS-3400. It comes with an advanced load sensor with a rugged and robust body to test the tensile properties of the materials with ease. In this blog post, we are going to discuss brief information about the tensile strength tester digital model and how this lab testing instrument is helpful in testing the tensile properties of the materials with ease. We will also discuss the importance of testing the tensile testing instrument.

Why is it important to test the tensile properties of metals?

The tensile properties of metals are very important in determining their strength and ductility when a tensile load will be applied to them. By testing the tensile properties, engineers can determine how a metal will perform under various loads and stresses. The most important tensile property is the ultimate tensile strength, which is the maximum stress that a metal can withstand before breaking. Other important tensile properties include yield strength, elongation, and reduction of area.

You can read more on the importance of testing the tensile properties of the materials. Moreover ensuring quality is a concern for the manufacturers as customers are now more conscious regarding the same.

By testing the tensile properties, the manufacturers can determine how a metal will perform under various loads and stresses. One of the most important reasons to test the tensile properties of metals is to ensure that they are able to withstand the loads that they will be subjected to during their intended use. Tensile testing can give engineers critical information about a metal’s yield strength, ultimate strength, and elongation.

The Testronix tensile strength tester helps to test the tensile properties of the metals to ensure accurate and consistent test results. Now, let us discuss brief information about Testronix tensile testing machine.

Test the tensile properties of metals with Testronix tensile strength tester

Tensile strength testing is considered to be one of the most important properties of the material that help manufacturers to ensure the durability of metals. Testing the tensile strength will help manufacturers in selecting the appropriate metal for a given application, or design a component or structure that will safely utilize a particular metal. In addition to safety, another key reason for testing metals’ tensile properties is to optimize performance.

We at Testronix Testing Instruments have designed a high-quality tensile strength tester that is used to calculate the tensile force that helps manufacturers in testing the tensile properties of the metals. Due to the separation, force applied on the specimen leads to destruction The Testronix Tensile Strength instrument hence records the peak value at which the destruction took place and displays it on the digital display.

This quality lab testing instrument has been designed in accordance with industrial standards that includes ASTM D412, ASTM D429-73, ASTM D624, ASTM D638-01, ASTM D76, IS 13360-5-7, and IS-3400. Besides this, it has been equipped with high-end features that include advanced load sensor sensing through advanced electronics, a highly sensitive load sensor, a rugged and robust body, and highly accurate micro-controller-based system controls.

These are the highly advanced features one can get with the help of a tensile strength tester. Now, let us discuss the working of this quality lab testing equipment.

Working on tensile testing machine

Tensile testing is one of the most common ways to determine the strength of a metal. By measuring the amount of force required to break or deform the metal, engineers can get an accurate measure of its strength. Testronix tensile testing machine is very easy to operate and can test the properties of different materials. Below we have mentioned the steps to test the tensile properties of metals.

  • First of all, start the tensile testing machine by plugging it in a 5 amp, 220 Volts AC. When you turn the machine ON, then you can simply place the testing specimen between the upper fixed grips and tighten the grip firmly.

  • Now bring the upper movable grip downwards so that the specimen can easily reach the grips.

  • Ensure that the lower limit switch ring is placed at a position that keeps a minimum distance of 25 mm.

  • Now place the lower end of the specimen between the lower grips and tighten the grip firmly.

  • Make sure that the specimen is placed in the center of the grips and after setting the zero on the load indicator, turn the rotary switch to the UP direction.

  • This will move the Upper grip in the upper direction. Once the movement of the upper grip starts in the upper direction, there will be an increase in the values shown on the load indicator.

  • Now turn the rotary switch to the off position after the specimen has been fractured.

  • Once the machine stops, the display showing the load will return to zero and the elongation display will freeze.

  • Press the Memory switch on the load indicator to show the peak value.

  • Note down the values displayed on the load indicator.

In this way, you can easily test the tensile properties of the metals and ensure that quality material will be delivered to the customers.
