Gloss is the property of a surface that gives it a gleaming, glossy, metallic, or matte look. When a surface is examined, a visual impression called gloss is created. The more direct light that is reflected, the more prominent the appearance of gloss will be. In order to deliver quality products to the customers, it is important for you to measure the glossiness of a surface. Thus, we at Testronix Testing Instruments will provide you with a high-quality gloss meter. This gloss meter-triangle has been made in accordance with ISO 2813 (international Standard) and GB/T 9754 (CHINA NATIONAL STANDARD). It has the characteristics like its ease to use, stable performance, and precise measurement.

Here in this blog, we will discuss a brief about the gloss meter triangle and how it is useful in testing the glossiness of the surface.

What is a gloss of a surface?

The interplay of light with the physical qualities of the sample surface causes gloss effects. The physiological evaluation scale is the other important factor. The greatest instrument for evaluating gloss variations in the Testronix gloss meter.

Because part of the light penetrates the surface material and is absorbed into it or diffusely dispersed from it depending on its color, the quantity of reflected light rises as the angle of illumination increases for non-metals such as coatings and plastics. Metals have a larger reflection coefficient and are hence less angularly dependent.

This lab testing instrument will be widely used in the automobile industry to measure gloss, opacity, transparency, hue, etc. This paint color measurement instrument will let you measure the visible spectrum of light reflected by the surface. Besides this, the gloss meter can be also used in the furniture industry as well.

This paint gloss meter displays multiple sets of data making it easy for you to display multiple sets of data for comparison. It comes with different components that are mentioned below.

  • LCD Screen: Display measuring data and instrument operation navigation.
  • Switch /Measure button: Long-press the button for 3 seconds to turn on or turn off the gloss meter. Short press the button is to measure.
  • Indicator light: When turning on, it will show a green light. After start-up, the light is off, Low power and charging status will show red light. Fully charged will show a green light.
  • RS-232/USB Interface: This interface is a common interface. The instrument automatically judges the connection status. The USB interface is used to connect transfer data PC RS-232 interface is used to connect to the printer. USB cable can connect the power adapter and computer for charging the gloss meter (specification for the external adapter is: 5V= 2A).
  • Protective Cover (Calibration Plate): It is too protective of the measuring aperture. A built-in calibration plate is used for instrument calibrating.

These are the important components of the Testronix gloss meter. You can easily test the glossiness of the surface from different angles with the help of this lab testing instrument. Below we have listed the features and technical specifications of the digital gloss meter.

Features of Testronix gloss meter

The Testronix meter triangle is one of the most appropriate testing instruments that will be used to test the glossiness of different products like plastics, metals, paints, papers, and ceramics. It has been embedded with several sets of features like:

  • Measurements of the device are done on the basis of the standards JJG696.
  • The chromaticity of the instrument is correspondent to the CIE 1931(2°) which is done under CIEC light source.
  • Has been made in accordance with industrial standards like ASTM D2457, ASTM D523, ISO2813, GB/T 9754.
  • Measure the brightness, whiteness of the various products such as white sugar and also measure the reflectance of the fabrics when placed in different lighting conditions.
  • Provides a great correlation of shining or visual gloss when the sample is placed flat.
  • The gloss of the material can be measured from different geometrical angles i.e. 20°, 60°, 85°.
  • Very portable and handy testing device.

These are the features you will get with a gloss measurement device. We at Testronix are considered to be the leading gloss meter manufacturers that offer high-quality testing equipment to ease your work of gloss measurement. Now, let us discuss the technical specifications of the Testronix gloss meter.
