With the modern techniques of printing coming in the industry, it is becoming difficult for the colour managers to get the right shades on different types of backgrounds and substrates. To solve the complexity, different companies are coming up with printing colour measurement solutions. Despite having high-end techniques, colour managers often struggle with getting uniform prints on a different type of surfaces.
Getting the same print on a different type of substrates is a challenge for printing and designing team. They both have to look at different aspects of the substrate, colour, printing technique. In all this, the colour of substrate is a matter of concern. Colors in the background play an important role in altering the desired results. Spectrophotometers are widely used in different industries to keep the colour disparity under control. It works on the principle of spectrophotometry, according to which the quantitative measurement of reflectance and transmission properties of wavelength is done. The device is equipped with an incident light, aperture and detector. The incident light is made to fall on the surface of the specimen which is under observation. Depending upon the roughness of the surface, the light diffuses. The diffused light is captured by the aperture. The larger the aperture is, the better is the light capturing. Also, it prevents the interference from the external light sources.
It has a detector which is a group of diodes that converts the light energy into electric energy. The electrical signal is processed by the microprocessor and displays the value into human-readable format.
