Scuff resistance is a term used to describe the ability of a substrate to resist damage from contact when rubbed against each other. Bumper stickers are generally made of polyvinyl chloride or PVC. They are designed to promote any cause or organization. However, their durability is often questioned as they are subject to wear and tear from being outdoors. To ensure that your bumper stickers can withstand the outdoor elements, it is important for the paper and packaging manufacturers to test the scuff resistance of these stickers. To make it easy for them, we at Testronix have designed a high-quality scuff resistance tester that is used to test the rub-proofness of samples against scuffing.

The Testronix scuff resistance testing instrument has been designed in accordance with industry standards that include ASTM F2497-05 which can give its users accurate testing results. This high-quality lab testing equipment comes with a motorized weight arrangement on the sample and provides highly accurate testing results. It comes with the provision of a set number of counts through a digital preset counter.

In this blog, we are going to discuss the importance of scuff resistance testers in the packaging industry. We will also discuss how you can easily test bumper stickers with the help of this lab testing equipment. So, let us get started!

What is scuff resistance and why it is tested for bumper stickers?

Scuff resistance is the ability of a material to resist being scratched or abraded. This is an important quality measure for bumper stickers because they are often exposed to wear and tear from being in contact with other surfaces. Bumper stickers need to be able to withstand being rubbed or bumped against other objects without losing their integrity. Thus, testing the scuff resistance strength of these stickers will help the users to ensure that quality products will be delivered.

You can read more about the scuff resistance test and why you should conduct it. Testronix being the top manufacturer of scuff resistance testers provides this high-quality lab testing equipment at the best and most affordable prices.

This high-quality lab testing equipment comes with a motorized arrangement to ensure the rub-proofness of printed materials against scuffing. Let us discuss brief information about the Testronix scuff resistance tester.

All about Testronix scuff resistance tester

The scuff resistance tester designed by the experts at Testronix will help the manufacturers to conduct scuff resistance tests on packaging materials like bumper stickers, packaging labels, etc. This lab testing instrument conducts a scuff resistance test on the materials and ensures that it can prevent colors from getting transferred when rubbed against each other. This testing instrument has been made in accordance with industry standards that include i.e. ASTM F2497-05.

It comes with the provision of a set number of counts through a digital preset counter with a firm hold of the testing specimens. This is considered to be accurate testing equipment that is highly useful in the paper and packaging industry to test the scuff resistance of two stickers or other related printed materials.

Users can firmly place the testing specimen on this testing instrument. It comes with a digital timer and motorized gear system that will help the customers, to ensure accuracy every time they make use of this lab testing equipment.

Besides this, it has been made in accordance with industry standards that include ASTM F2497-05, BS 3110:1959. Thus, this lab testing instrument is considered to be the best way to test the rub-proofness of materials with ease.

How to use a scuff resistance tester correctly?

When performing a scuff resistance test, it is important to ensure that the tester is correctly calibrated and that the specimen is placed accurately on the lab testing instrument. If you are using a Testronix scuff resistance tester, then you can easily follow the below-mentioned steps to conduct this test accurately:

  • First of all, take a piece Sample that you need to test.

  • Now, take the “smaller size” template of 50mm (provided by the machine) to mark the size on the sample. Now cut the sample.

  • Take the same piece sample on which you want to perform the test.

  • Now, take a bigger size template i.e. 124mm to mark the size of the sample for the lower clamp by placing it on the sample.

  • Now cut the sample using a cutter or scissors.

  • Take the first sample of a smaller size i.e. 50mm. Now uplift the lever pin to uplift the spindle to create a specific amount of gap between both clamps.

  • Open the gripping pin. Now place the sample on the upper clamp and clamp it firmly using the clamping grip.

  • For placing the sample in the lower clamp, First of all, uplift the lever pin to uplift the spindle to create a specific amount of gap between both clamps.

  • Open the Ring of the lower clamp. Now place the sample of 124mm on the lower clamp.

  • Clamp it firmly using the clamping ring for tight and wrinkle-free sample placement.

  • Once the specimen will accurately be placed on the lower and upper clamp of the machine, then you can easily conduct a scuff resistance test on the materials.

In this way, you can easily operate this lab testing equipment efficiently. This is one of the best quality scuff resistance testers designed for packaging manufacturers.
