Tensile strength testing is a crucial method used to measure the maximum amount of tensile, or pulling, force that a material can withstand before it breaks or deforms. Tensile strength testing provides valuable insights into the structural integrity of materials like metals. By evaluating the tensile properties of the metals, manufacturers can easily evaluate the mechanical properties and behaviour of metals under tension. We offer the best quality tensile testing machines at the best and most affordable prices. Our digital model of the tensile testing instrument will help to calculate the tensile forces of the materials when the specimen will be placed between the clamps.

This testing machine has been designed as per industrial standards that include ASTM D412, ASTM D429-73, ASTM D624, ASTM D638-01, ASTM D76, IS 13360-5-7, IS-3400. This makes it easy for manufacturers to conduct tensile strength tests on the materials and get accurate testing results.

Here we will discuss brief information about tensile strength testing and why it is important to test the tensile properties of metals.

Importance of testing tensile properties of metals

Tensile strength testing is a critical component of quality control for metals due to its ability to assess the material's mechanical properties and overall integrity. By subjecting metal samples to tension until failure, this testing method provides valuable information about the maximum amount of stress the metal can withstand before fracturing.

This parameter, known as tensile strength, is crucial for determining the material's ability to withstand external forces and predict its performance in real-world applications. By ensuring that metals meet or exceed the required tensile strength specifications, quality control can guarantee the reliability and safety of products that rely on these materials.

Tensile strength testing also helps identify any potential defects, inconsistencies, or weaknesses within the metal, enabling manufacturers to take appropriate corrective measures and maintain consistent quality standards.

By incorporating tensile strength testing into the quality control process, companies can enhance their product reliability, reduce the risk of failure, and instil confidence in their customers.

You can easily perform tension testing on materials with Testronix tensile strength tester. Now, let us discuss brief information about this quality testing equipment.

How is tensile strength testing performed?

If you want to conduct a tensile strength test on the materials, then you can follow the steps mentioned below:

  • First of all plug the machine into a 5 amp, 220 Volts AC and turn the machine ON.

  • Place the upper side of the specimen between the upper fixed grips and tighten the grip firmly. Now bring the lower movable grip upwards so that the specimen can easily reach the grips.

  • Ensure that the lower limit switch ring is placed at a position that keeps a minimum distance of 25 mm.

  • Now place the lower end of the specimen between the lower grips and tighten the grip firmly.

  • Make sure that the specimen is placed in the centre of the grips.

  • Once all the steps will be completed, you can easily commence the test.

In this way, you can easily perform tensile strength tests on the materials.
