Top load strength is one of the most important factors to consider while testing the quality of PET bottles. It is a measure of a bottle's resistance to top-loading forces, such as those exerted by the weight of contents inside the bottle.

Top load strength is affected by a number of factors, including the thickness of the bottle wall, the type and amount of resin used the orientation of the bottle during manufacture, and the way in which the bottle is filled and closed. Consequently, it is essential to test for top-load strength when assessing the quality of PET bottles. By doing so, you can ensure that your bottles will be able to withstand the forces to which they will be subjected during use. Thus, we at Testronix have come up with a high-quality top load tester testing instrument that is helpful in testing the top load strength of PET bottles with ease. Here in this blog, we are going to provide you with information about how you can easily measure the top load strength of PET bottles with the help of the Testronix top load tester. But before that, let’s begin with the introduction to this lab testing instrument.

Introduction about Testronix top load tester

Product protection is required for consumable product packaging. During handling, shipping, and storage, PET bottles, cans, and cartons must endure compressive stresses. Manufacturers of beverage containers also have to ensure that their containers are strong enough to withstand the capping procedure. Thus, using the Testronix top-load testing instrument you can easily test the top load strength of PET bottles and make sure the right bottles will be delivered to your customers.

The top-load test is a type of quality test conducted for PET bottles that involves applying the compressive force in the downward direction and measuring its ability of compressive resistance to deformation. The main purpose of this test is to evaluate the strength of the bottle so that it can withstand the pressure during filling, transportation, and storage without any permanent deformation.

This test is also conducted to prevent any potential failure or breakage of the bottle due to insufficient strength. The procedure of this test includes firstly placing the PET bottle on the testing platform, followed by applying the specified load at a constant rate until it reaches the predetermined value. After that, the maximum load at which no visible deformation occurs is recorded. Lastly, the deformation at failure is also measured. The results of this test will help to determine if the PET bottle meets the entire requirement in terms of strength and durability. You can easily evaluate the top load strength of PET bottles to improve their quality.

You can also read about the benefits of top load tester in the packaging industry. Below we have given brief information about how you can easily conduct the test using a top load tester.

Steps to conduct the test using a top load tester

  • First of all plug the machine into a 5 amp, 220 Volts AC and turn the machine ON.
  • Place the specimen accurately between the compression plates.
  • Ensure that the bottle is placed in the center of the compression plate for accurate results.
  • Now bring the lower compression in the upper direction and exert a small preload on the bottle to eliminate any air gap between the compression plate and bottle.
  • Once you follow the above steps, then you can easily commence the test.

In this way, you can easily examine the top load strength of PET bottles with ease. You can also give us a call at +91 9313 140 140 or email us at info@testronixinstruments.com. We assure you to provide relevant information about this product.
